About Klinrisk
At Klinrisk, we’re transforming how chronic disease is predicted, diagnosed, and managed. Klinrisk is setting a new precedent in prognosis, using clinically validated AI to turn routine lab test results into actionable insights. Built on the groundbreaking research of Dr. Navdeep Tangri, a globally recognized leader in disease risk prediction, Klinrisk bridges world-class science with real-world impact. In the past year, the company has accelerated rapidly, achieving European approval (CE Mark) in partnership with Roche for the Kidney Klinrisk Algorithm, announcing a strategic collaboration with Renvio to embed predictive intelligence directly into kidney care workflows, and completing a successful fundraise to support ambitious team growth. As Klinrisk scales across healthcare systems, this is a rare opportunity to join a fast-growing company at the forefront of AI-powered medicine and help shape the future of patient care.
About the Role
Klinrisk is hiring a Senior II Software Developer to play a key role in the design, build, and operation of the platform that turns clinical algorithms into production Software as a Medical Device (SaMD). You will own significant features and components end to end, from data model and API through to the UI, and contribute to the technical direction for shipping them into a regulated, multi-tenant environment where reliability and auditability are not optional.
You report to the Head of Engineering and partner closely with the Product Manager, data scientists, and clinical domain experts, including in discovery, where you help shape what gets built before requirements are locked. You write production code, contribute to architectural decisions, mentor more junior developers, deploy and operate workloads on Azure, and use AI-assisted development tools responsibly on production work. You bring software design controls (e.g., IEC 62304, ISO 13485) into your day-to-day rather than treating them as a separate step, and you are fluent in working with health data under privacy and security constraints.
The right candidate has built and shipped medical device software in a regulated environment, has a track record of delivering high-quality features with minimal oversight, and is comfortable operating where quality and compliance are nonnegotiable.
Responsibilities
Own features and components end to end, data model, API, and UI, and contribute to architectural decisions and trade-offs across the stack
Resolve complex issues spanning front end and back end, including production incidents, and contribute to the post-incident improvements that prevent recurrence
Mentor more junior developers through pairing and thorough code review, and uphold the team's engineering standards
Design and operate integrations with external clinical systems (labs, vendor APIs, EHR/LIS feeds), including FHIR-based ingestion and exchange of large clinical datasets
Deploy and operate production infrastructure on Azure, including CI/CD
Build and maintain secure, multi-tenant systems with appropriate access controls and data segregation
Build and maintain data-cleaning and clinical data pipelines that feed model training and production inference, with validation and monitoring appropriate to a medical device
Put machine learning features into production, including versioning, monitoring, and retraining, and follow the team's practices for responsible use of AI-assisted development tools on production code
Work within the SaMD process: apply software design controls (IEC 62304, ISO 13485), risk management, verification and validation, and requirements traceability to your own work with minimal oversight
Handle health data (e.g., PHI) in line with privacy and security requirements
Work with the Product Manager during discovery to inform scope, surface technical constraints early, and turn clinical and business needs into buildable requirements
Collaborate closely with the data-science team to ensure accuracy and reliability of results, and communicate timelines, risks, and trade-offs clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders

Requirements
8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including deep hands-on experience building and shipping production web applications end to end
Medical device software experience is required: you have shipped software regulated as a medical device (SaMD) and worked under IEC 62304 / ISO 13485 design controls
Experience mentoring more junior developers through code review and pairing
Strong grounding in system design and data modeling, with hands-on experience on Azure and modern CI/CD practices
Experience with clinical data integration at scale, including FHIR, and building data-cleaning and clinical data pipelines
Experience working with product management on requirements definition, and communicating clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
Experience taking a regulatory submission through FDA 510(k), CE Mark, or Health Canada licensing
Experience supporting or owning data science / ML workflows in production
Working knowledge of health data privacy (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR) and cybersecurity (e.g., SOC 2)
Experience using AI-assisted development tools on production codebases
Experience building multi-tenant or role-based SaaS platforms
Competencies
Sound technical judgement under ambiguity and time pressure
Ability to balance urgency with long-term sustainability
Delivers production ready systems under aggressive timelines
Maintains quality without over-engineering
Demonstrates ownership, accountability and follow-through
Communicates clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders
Builds trust through transparency and consistency
Follows and helps improve appropriate, compliant processes
Supports the growth of others through mentorship and code review
Klinrisk Core Behaviors
Klinrisk seeks team members with the following traits and expects these behaviors as we build the company together:
Obsessed with customer success: We measure ourselves by what the customer achieves with Klinrisk, not by what we ship. When a customer is stuck we treat it as our problem to solve, even when the root cause sits outside our product.
Willing to own a new challenge: We step toward unfamiliar work that is owned by our "seat," or that no seat clearly owns yet, and we take accountability for the outcome rather than the effort. Owning a new challenge means getting it assigned and resourced properly - not working around the person who already owns it.
Focused on highest impact actions: We are small and commonly under-resourced during rapid growth, so we spend our time on the few things that move high quality revenue, evidence or compliance forward. We say no clearly, and we finish what we start before adding more.
Compensation & Equity
Salary range: $180,000 – $220,000 CAD
Equity: Employee Stock Option Plan (ESOP) participation at senior executive level
Benefits: Competitive benefits package
How to Apply
We recognize that the right person may not check every box. If you bring deep hands-on technical leadership and genuine comfort in regulated environments, we encourage you to apply.
